'A' Pillar trim removal

Where's the airbag? I want to run some wiring behind the trim - do I need to disconnect the battery first?

Key out and let it go to sleep. Airbag logo will pop out with a gentle fingernail under it. Torq screwdriver to undo recessed screw. Gently pop the whole cover off - no problem airbag is there and is a bit exposed - but it's not too bad.

While your in there, fit a parking clip.

Probably safer to disconnet battery - but have never bothered Whistle

Thumbs Up Cheers. Already got the clip Wink

Couldn't be arsed with the battery, but thought I'd better check before I pull the logo-bit off and it explodes in my face Rolling Eyes Whistle

You have to lift the cover on the airbag symbol and remove the screw. Then you can pull the cover off. You will see some brackets where cables are already routed, I ran the one's for the Webasto timer through them.

Too slow typing. Where do you get parking clips from.

My 05 D3 had them on both driver and passenger A pillars but by 55 and my second D3 .... GONE!!! Shocked

So gr8 news these can be sourced and fitted Thumbs Up

Stealership claimed LR had discontinued them as a cost saving measure - but then what do they know after all about a D3 Laughing

Just taken off A pillar trim to fit mic for car kit, piece of cake thanks to this thread! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Looked at the screw head after taking off the Airbag plastic cover thingie & saw a fancy torq type fitting. "We're doomed Captain Manwaring" thought I but remembered what JMC said about using an Allan key. 4mm key fitted & we were cooking with gas. Fitted microphone and put everything back together, bit fiddly getting the door seal the right side of trim but no problem once I looked at the other side to see what it should be. Sorted! Many thanks all! Bow down Bow down
