Are you tinting for looks or is there a practical reason, I like it but need a bloody good reason to fork out for a non essential

Practical 80%, looks 20%.
Kids complained of sun when we went on hols last year to France, and it got pretty hot in the back. Also will help them sleep on long journeys and see their DVD players without glare.

Good enough reason, that means I now have to fork out for rear mount DVDs as well
As an afterthought does anyone know if there is any UV protection on the standard rear glass panels

Re: Pimped my Ride - Midland Tinting top job
[quote="smitht2"]I've been to Midland Tinting today and Ben and Jay did a great job applying Limo tints.
Kids think it is like MTV - Pimp my ride, and that they are now film stars being driven around! [quote]
I am having mine done on Thursday, I was told that the two rear passenger windows would be taken out to get the right finish, they do this somehow without removing the door card, do you know if any of your windows were taken out and also the % tint you went for.
Somehow I don't think Strornaway will look as good tinted as your darker colour

Windows weren't taken out. They took out some of the trim and door handles, but windows remained in place.
I went with Limo which is 5%
Drive back with kids from school in bright sunlight was well received since glare was absent through window. When I dropped them off in the dark tonight it was also manageable to still see car headlights etc and to reverse and make out what was behind me with reversing light. Yes it is dark, but still OK.

I was told the factory finish is about 20%, so is yours darker or lighter at 5%, I can't work out if it is % light let in or % of tint if you know what I mean.
I want mine to be enough to see pretty clearly through, but still good enough for the South of France. I saw a forum members at the weekend and he went for medium tint, so I am confused when different language is used. Thanks
can i ask how much it cost,to be a film star , and what percentage of film did you go for,

Tints are great for privacy and to protect skin and upholstery against the heat and sun rays... I got TWO films (darkest possible) all around except for the front glass where I only got one not so dark film applied to it.
but... I live in the caribbean which = sun + more sun "Dude don't even worry. The water is only about a foot deep."

Just had mine tinted today aswell, am well pleased.
I also had it done for the kids as the last 2 cars had it.
If anybody is looking to get it done in Reading area I would recommend Tint smart. Top bloke and he'll come to you.
