It has been sucking in dirty air into the compressor and your air suspension systems.
Get dealer to fix. Min should be a new compressor dryer, which hopefully will have filtered the dirt and will now be stuffed. Get them to check the whole system though.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Gzl,
I am going to sound grouchy, but all those returns are annoying! Anyway, I don't think its a fuel breather. I think the type of conenction that it has on the end of it means that it used to screw? into the control box thingy that you can see in the attached shot.
Now another question - what is that rectangular box that sits behind and above the rear diff?
PS: Thankfully not my car - this was a car that had coolant leaking out the exhaust manifold which filled the turbo, so whole body came off for an engine swap. Very interesting to inspect it!

Hi Andrew
The box contains the Parking brake module and the air suspension exhaust silencer.
I saw your D3 at Alto the other day.
Any news on what caused the failure?“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Not my car thankfully. The theory that I heard (early in the dissasembly) was high milage + hard driving. There's a photo of the manifold in my gallery.
Thanks for the advice re the box

Why? It would take all of about 30 secs to reconnect that pipe...
I am aware said car has coils, but still, why should everything go to a dealer to be fixed? My D3 Build Thread

As grzesiul pointed out to me; it's coiler (something I missed ) so doesn't need fixing. I thought it had air and the fiter had not been connected.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
