ATR, MTR, AT2, please explain the abbreviations.

Apologies, but would somebody please expand the tyre names to include the manufacturers so I can better follow this thread?

Thanks.

They are quiet Shocked ...well anything is quiet when you are acclimatised to MTR's. Road holding in the wet (heavy rain and surface water) is leaps and bounds above the MTR's and Std scorpions at normal road speeds.

I may have to get some for my original wheels when the std's get a bit more worn as I was genuinely impressed.

Driving about in the flooded roads today just reminded me why I love MTR's. The ATR's will have to wait Thumbs Up

Mine seem better in the wet than the zero's (even when cornering) but I don't know about MTR's as I never had them? I wonder if pressures make much difference? I'm currently running 34F 42R

I am running both ATR's and MTR's on the 2 cars at the moment.

Without doubt the MTR's in the flooded roads are better as the tread cuts through the water better but the ATR's are not far behind.

In terms of cornering - don't find any issues with the ATR's - D3's are not the best on any tyres but cannot say I have noticed any issues - previously had scorpions on and they were okay but after a few 000's miles - you did notice a difference.

Been up around Perth the last few days and the amount of flooded roads that are around is scary especially with at nights - glad im in the D3 and not a small hatchback.

You aren't alone, highlandcow! I have another query. Looking on the tyre sites I find mention of 'Pirelli Scorpion ATRs'. Elsewhere on this board someone referred to comparing his 'Scorpions' with 'ATRs', thus implying that HIS ATRs are NOT 'Scorpions'. I'm confused..which is correct?

Hi,

If it was me, I was trying to compare my Pirelli Scorpion Zero's with Prelli ATR's.

I too have noticed that some suppliers call them Pirelli Scorpion ATR's (although I am not sure that that is correct)

Perhaps someone enlighten us all ???

Interestingly the Pirelli UK website ONLY shows the Scorpion ATR and the Scorpion Ice & Snow, there is no mention of the Standard Scorpion Zero. Maybe the web site is out of date, or maybe things are a changing Thumbs Up

It does on my Pirelli UK web site - ATR and Ice&Snow are the only ones listed under "Winter" tab and Zero's are listed under the "Summer" tab above!
