Pirelli Scorpion Zero (again) |
|
Sorry, I know this has been discussed in the past. My HSE arrived with Scorpion Zero's fitted. These seem to be excellent on road, but I'm concerned that they might be useless off road.
Does anyone have any off road experience with the Scorpion Zero tyres? I'm only going to encounter rough farm tracks & fields so hopefully I'll be O.K.
Would be very embarrasing to get stuck in a new HSE!

hello LT,
they are just fine.. just be carefull on the sidewalls as are bit light
fr rough terrain with stones etc..
also slide more on sloppy terrains with a lot of mud and a lot of snow,
mostly due to cars weight.
i hv done everything of abv and stuck only once (actualy i decided to test
on a place which other cars with m/t and a/t hv stucked as well with ease.)
feel tht with a good set of a/t, the car will be unstopable on every terrain.
fyg ''general grabber at2'' will be avail as frm fall 2006, on 255/60/18.
last but not least, u have to have a lot of practice with yr car and what each
mode on terrain responce is actually doing, and get the feeling of car's reaction to such terrains (it happent once to get unstuck frm a very muddy
slop, by using the rock groulling mode instead of mud/ruts.
enjoy the man's ''play station''

Ours has Scorpion Zeros and I managed to get the car stuck in our garden in the mud . Although our ground is on a nasty slope and it was really greasy after an overnight thaw and all day rain (I could hardly stand up), The mud was only about 4-5" deep with stones underneath. The tread pattern just didn't self-clean well. I'm therefore not too confident about them in the mud, but at the time I didn't know that disabling the DSC (mentioned elsewhere on this forum) might have got me unstuck quicker than the road building exercise I had to do the following evening!)

Thanks, I'll see how I get on. Must say I'm very impressed so far by the Zero's on road.

I agree they're great on the road.
Jocob's reply is interesting, since I got out of my stuck situation in rock crawl rather than mud mode. Does this lock things up quicker ?

yes, thing tht locks the center (and rear if availiable) and makes the
TC more sensitive since feel tht on mud mode the TC, effect with some delay to give the weel the advantage to spin and selfclean(which with zeros
is not the case.)
also like iand said, the DSC has to be switched off.

I would have been able to tell that if our car had been delivered with 4x4 info as ordered ... (but that's another story!)
