Do Pirelli zeros wear badly?

Hello,
I have now 255/50-20 Pirelli zeros on my D4. I just changed from 255/55-19 winter tires (studded Nokian Hakkapelitta 8 SUV) and the difference in handling is substantial. With the Nokians the car was stable and didn`t want to follow tracks in the road or similar. With the Pirellis I suddenly have a nervous car which is ok on flat road at motorway speed but bad at lower speeds and worse roads. The Pirellis are down to 5 mm so I just wonder if they start to misbehave when they wear to a certian degree?

Front lower and rear upper arms are new. Both front and rear ARB links are new. All steering joints are new and the tracking is recently done and perfect. I have experimented with various tire pressures and no real difference.

Thanks,
Peter

Hi, I just changed my original 20" Pirelli Zeros at 19,500 miles and 3mm tread left all round. I didn't notice any dramatic drop off in performance as they aged but it would probably have been too gradual to notice.

I went for GG GTs and they seem to be a decent replacement, I'm more than happy with the ride and handling. Car seems 'lighter' to drive and less tram lining for sure. I'll see how they wear.

I didn't like how mine handled when on P-zeros, and they did seem to wear much faster. Tried GG-GT, and have settled on Goodyear Wranglers - on my second set now!

On fourth set on 18 inch wheels when I sold my D3. Never noticed tramlining. Softish rubber so great grip on roads so I tended to drive accordingly. As a result only got about 16k before needing to change. Driven carefully I would expect more mileage.

Do you mean P-Zero or Scorpion zero?

There are several reports on this forum about tramlining from 5mm on Scorpion zeros. Mine or about that now, but not really noticed it (yet).

After talking to others on this forum and looking at my use of car (not really much on muddy fields or off roading) I am going to try scorpion verdes all season tyres next.

Thanks for all input!
Tires are Scorpion zeros and I learnt a new English word today, "tramlining", that I didnĀ“t know before. Made serching the forum easier and I have also realized that tramlining is described frequently for Scorpion zeros. It might be time for new tires soon.

Scorpions are good until they are under 5mm, then they tramline really badly. I've had Scorpions and really dont like them any more.

I only ever knew tramlining from motor cycling days but I then came across it on the forum.
