Play in rear driveshafts

Can anyone tell me if there is surpose to be play in the rear wheel driveshafts that go from diff to wheels
As if I hold the big inner part of the shaft by the diff the small middle part of the shaft still moves slightly each side of the cv joint nearest the diff

Same as if I’m under the car and turn prop then both inner parts of driveshafts move even with wheels on the ground towards end of video and the car is on the ground

That amount of free play in the prop (rotation) does not look unusual. You are feeling the combined 'tolerance' of the rear diff, and 4 CV joints.

The calibration of the throttle response is doing a good job of hiding all that transmision slack when driving! Thumbs Up

Chock both front wheels, jack one rear wheel off the ground, hand brake off, rotate the wheel that is off the ground lightly backwards and forwards until resistance is felt 100mm rotation is normal IMO, any grinding, clicks or bumps isn't.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Hi James.

Could you tell me if the new prop shaft has cured this ? As I have the same knocking when accelerating and decelerating. Jacked it up at the weekend and my prop bearing has the same issues.

Cheers

Rich.
