Please Help! Adaptive Head lamps Retrofit Discovery 4 2016

Hello everyone,

my Disco 4 2016 RHD has halogens and I am interested in upgrading to adaptive head lamps. I already bought the lamps. is this possible or am i dreaming? Laughing has anyone done this in latest Disco 4? after going thru several forums i come to realize i need a Headlamp Control Module installed and the activation in order to process the installation. any of you guys know where this module is located in Disco 4 HSE Luxury?

After going thru some diagrams i able to get a picture of the Module.

Since i saw in other AFS topics in D3 comes under the glove compartment i looked, but couldn't find a place it may fit. or any pre wired sockets.

Then i saw in another diagram it shows near the passenger inner fender. still couldn't find. Sad
(13C788) (14536 Bracket)

This is how my head lamp connector and pre wired connection in the vehicle.

Please help Bow down

Get a hcm 9X23-13K031-AD
Add 6 wires to each headlight 2 earths 2 lives and 2 signal wires
Enable it with a iid tool but in untested ccf settings
I brought 2 old discovery 4 front door looms as one of the connectors had the right pins in for adding to the headlight connectors

Hi,
the upgrade from Halogene to Xeneon (incl AFS) is also my project for the next weeks.
Does anyone know if (as a first step) the cornering lamps will work after changing CCF only i habe a 11/2015. Or will cabling be necessary for this? I read something about PIN 4 an 16 that need to be cabled.
Thanks

Hi togehter,
i have more questiosn on this.
1) Is the "hcm 9X23-13K031-AD" also the correct module for a D4 from 11/2015 (MY 2016)?
2) where is the location for this module in my D4 (LHD)?

Thank fro your help.

I upgraded from Halogen to Xenon now and installed Adaptive Xenon Units (because I wanted to have the cornering lights). Just plug & play + CCF update. "Normal Xenon" headlight works fine. Same for the cornering lamps, which turn on in drive with indicator lever turned on. Everything as expected.

The only question I have now is about self-levelling: do the "NORMAL" factory Xenon headlights (not the adaptive ones) have a self-levelling motor? Or is the levelling being done by air suspension only?
Of course my adaptive ones have the some kind of adaptation motor included (for right and left adjustment). But I am not sure if this unit should also level the up and down also in case the adaptive functionality is not used.
So in case the "NORMAL" factory Xenon headlights don’t have a motor included, I should be fine. In case “NORMAL" factory Xenon headlights have a motor for adjusting, I might need to get the unit installed in my headlamps working for "up and down".
It would be great if someone with "NORMAL" factory Xenon headlight could check his headlight and let me know. BTW: D4 / MY 2016.

Attached a picture of the interior of my adaptive unit.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks! Did you check at a normal Xenon headlight if there isn’t a motor installed? I would like to be really sure about it, to be legally on the safe side.

Is the jump from xenon to adaptive xenon any easier? I miss the adaptive xenons I have had on my last 3 cars.

I don’t think it’ll be easier as I assume you will also have the cabling for halogen/ normal xenon only. I have the same cabling as shown in the post above.
I would believe you would also need to add the hcm + cabling.

Unfortunately I didn’t come any further yet in finding the location where the hcm should be sitting and how to cable it.
