Please help! Wiring for Roof mount DVD player

Hi everyone,

Can anyone out there please help me identify the wiring terminal for fitting rooft mount DVD. I have bought myself a Rosen A7 to fit in place of the middle row light clusters.

The four terminals I need to connect on the DVD unit is
Ground (black)
12v constant (yellow)
Switches 12v (Red)
remote turn on lead (blue)

I had a look at the light connector there are four wires going into the lights
Black - ?Ground
Red - ?switched 12v (am I right?)
Purple ??
Green ??

Just wondering which colour represents which terminal?? Please kindly advise!

Thank you very much!

Right, seeing as the GTR is no good at all, I took my DVD player down to have a look at the wiring. Sorry the photos aren't great, but I hope they help.

There are three connectors on the back (top) of the player. The first is a black 4 pin connector, labelled as "Dome Light". This connector is loose, and was in the roof lining.

Wire colours are (Car Side/DVD Side)

Purple/Red
Green/Yellow
Gap/Gray
Black/Black

The others are just plug-in connectors, so you should be ok.
Next connector is the DVD Power connector. This is a white 4 pin plug.

Wire colours are:

White
Black and White
Gap
Yellow

Last connector is the DVD Audio connector, an 8 pin white plug (see above pic). Colours are:

Gap
Blue
Brown
White
Black
Black
Gap
Gap

The cables for audio and power feed seem to be spliced out of a bundle of wiring passing through the roof lining.

Seems very neatly done, so it must be part of the loom, rather than done by the dealer. I've only got an 'S', so I haven't got rear air-con - that might make matters more difficult.....

Hope this helps.....

Interesting. Ive been considering a DVD system for the kids. Didnt have it fitted at purchase, but as a retro fit looks like its fairly straight forward.

Im wondering does plugging in the DVD automatically enable any necessary changes on the Nav screen?

Also I have HSE with premium ice, I guess I would need to route a fibre through to the amp for surround sound? would my kids be able to watch and listen to a film in the back whilst we continue listening to 'boring' talksport radio in the front?

The LR Rosen player comes with two pairs of cordless headphones, so the rear passengers can listen to that while you can listen to radio/cd.
Or you can switch to aux and enjoy listening to their films Rolling Eyes

I got my player as a freebie when I got the car. List price is over £2000. I'm not sure its worth that amount. It also gets in the way of the rear view mirror when its open.

I think the twin-screen package from Premium Audio (I think. Site sponsor) looks much better - twin screens each side so they're not in the way, and about two thirds the (full LR) price. I'm only going by their pictures on this site - I've never actually seen one of their installations! You'll have to see if any members have their players. I think Mr.Bling did?

Oh, they do work! 2 hours of silence from the kids!! Very Happy

Thanks for your advise DiscoStu!! Unfortunately, there are no accessory plugs in the lining, but I did manage to install it by wiring the accessory 12v from the middle console up to the roof and kept every wire original without any cutting..... and kept the door lights working on the DVD player!!

The smaller 7" doesn't cause too much problem either which is good. I bought it off eBay for a mere £120 and installed it myself. Bought another 3 pairs of head phones 2nd head from USA for £30. so all my passenger can watch DVD movies in silent for a bargain price!!!

Your help is greatly appreciated!!!
