Poor door seal design?
When I first bought the D3 and, as you do, performed a full, full, FULL valet, the type you never undertake again I noticed the rubber seal across the arch of the passenger doors was absoutely full of crud, real black dirty and damp stuff.
After about a month of road driving I noticed it again, not nearly as bad but enough to surprise me.
It was January so I guess the worst time to notice it considering the winter we've had.
It can't be good to have all this wetness in there but guess it's there to stop it getting any further from the wheel arch I guess...
...never come across it on any other car I've owned to be honest.D3 incl. genuine glass windscreen, front bi-focal headlights, full width rear bumper, self levelling washer bottle contents and audible 'tick tock' indicator stalk
911 GT3 had one [never]
R8 V12 just gone [past me]

I have this on mine too, theres enough dirt to grow a field of tatties. Always wanted an allotment, but I really don't want to cart it around with me all of the time. Is this a design fault and is there a fix?? Run silent, run deep!! HM Submarines Conqueror, Churchill, Renown, Ocelot, Porpoise, Onslaught.

I've rubbed Vasoline onto the door seals, work it in or you'll get it onto your clothes. Its stops the door rubbers freezing against the seals, and also expells the water and grime easier.
At least the new addition to my crew is under the command of daughter No1. It's annoying when they yack up white stuff everywhere. Its looks like the seagulls have been circling over the carpets.
Hope you are coping well with your wee-un?? Run silent, run deep!! HM Submarines Conqueror, Churchill, Renown, Ocelot, Porpoise, Onslaught.

Pressure wash it - doors open Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!
I fitted mud flaps front and rear, but it has made no difference. Not too keen on lobbing water at the open doors TBH Dave!!
Us submariners have a fear of water you know, thats why we hum!!!! Run silent, run deep!! HM Submarines Conqueror, Churchill, Renown, Ocelot, Porpoise, Onslaught.

It happens on all D3's. (and D2 also) The plastic trim around the wheel arch section of the rear door traps dirt, lots of it. I clean them each each time I wash the car, its not too difficult. A slow running hose whilst you run your finger down the inside of the seal gets rid of most of it.
If your worried about mud gathering in the door seal, you should see what gathers behind the wheel arch trims A guaranteed rust trap for the future.
