Poor Fuel consumption after Remap

Hi guys anybody help me with this problem? Big Cry
Ive blanked of the EGR valves and removed the butterfly and itshad a full REMAP from Turbo chip.

Ive checked the electric park brake and all wheels to see there are dragging, they are all ok.
Car has been checked by Landrover on a diagnostic machine and found no fault.
Turbochip have been back to do another REMAP.
I am getting around 19 mpg when towing and on a normal drive around 24 mpg, I have not got a heavy right foot and drive around 1800 rpm tried a bit higher but the mpg went even lower..

My D3 is a SE auto and its now been checked Landrover and Turbochips mobile technicians and they can not find any fault with this vehicle.
So once again I called Turbochip and asked them full a full refund, all they said was this remap has been installed on a lot of D3 and never had problem and they refuse to issue a REFUND BECAUSE THEY SAID THE CAR IS THE PROBLEM..

So has anybody had this problem with Turbochip in the past or having this problem at the moment.
And found the cause of the problem?

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED Thumbs Up

Remaps don't give economy sorry they don't Alter your driving style after a remap and economy will happen maybe

24mpg not bad at all really mine is low 18s I've a Smart car for economy 89mpg or a Quad for 9mpg Thumbs Up

England 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Base 5 Seat Manual Zermatt SilverDiscovery 3

My car is a manual. and a base model, so that means I have to work out the consumption for myself, O.K. with a little help from "Road Trip" on my Iphone.
The best I had was 28 m.p.g. that was all motorway driving.
But I only get 24 m.p.g. at all other times.
I have just had a re-map with T.F.C. Iam on my first tank of fuel, since he did it, so I don't know what I will get yet, if it's a bit less it will not matter, as my smile factor is so big, the way the car goes, it is so much more different.
I have also just bought a tintent, but I don't get that till March, to what will the consumption then, (I dread to think).
So In all I don't think your fuel consumption is all that bad.

Did Turbochip promise a fuel economy improvement BEFORE you purchased the remap?

A friend of mine also had a similar problem with a TDV6 and the tuner had to make 3 maps in the end to get the car right so it was a problem with the remap and not the car I guess.

How was the Turbochip loaded into your car?

If they used the Autologic system then it would of be an 'off the shelf' generic remap which does not cater for cars such as yours.

I had a TURBOCHIP remap from on a July 2006 car and all works fine - more power, no turbo lag, more torque , and slightly better consumption but nothiong worth noting.

Tony,

I really don't believe that remaps will give any noticeable improvement in economy - in theory they should, but in reality mine drinks more with the remap than with a standard map.

You should also bear in mind that the fuel consumption will also get slightly worse if you blank the EGRs....

To be honest 24mpg seems about right and is quite a bit better than mine (as per yours, but with AT tyres and a RAI) Question

Hope this helps,
Paul

Had my HSE re-mapped by JE in Coventry a couple of years ago and the mpg improved, but only if I drive with 'contolled revs.' Keep the RPM below 2000 as much as practical and use the Command Shift mode and you will see at least 20 mpg in London driving and as much as 35 on the motorway (had 37 going down through France last year and fully laden).

The trip computer seems fairly accurate on my D3, providing that I fill it right to the brim. I can get another gallon in after the first cough of the petrol nozzle!

I'm not remapped and on filling up at the weekend after 184 miles of town driving, short stop starts this past week, the computer was showing an average of 21.4MPG.
After doing the conversions, litres to gallons etc, i got an actual economy of 17.2MPG or thereabouts and running MT/Rs.
On a motorway run i can get approx 28-30MPG against 31-34MPG on standard HP's.

Don't forget trip comp lies by anything from 10% to 20%, one way only unless you have short filled.

Newbie question, so forgive me if it is covered elsewhere.

Can the Trip Computer CANbus settings be adjusted to tweak the computations? I used to have an Audi A4 and the CANbus had a number of settings to enable the Trip Computer accuracy to be 'enhanced.'

On most Trip Computers, they don't measure actual fuel flow (because it's difficult and the calorific value of the fuel varies so much) so they rely on change in fuel level and a 1 per rev sensor on a wheel. Change the circumference of your wheel (or spin it!) and the computations are up the spout

turbochip say on thier website a 7% fuel saving and to be honest were getting the same mpg now as before the remap, the remap was loaded using the Autologic system.

we have now had the remap done twice and still no fuel improvement,

Tony,

I think if you're not getting an improvement then you should be entitled to have the remap removed and your money back, however 7% improvement is very small and how do you prove that you're not getting it.

That said, I had my old car chipped and it increased the BHP and Torque and I'm sure the economy did improve, but I never noticed it because my driving style changed and I was using the additional 45bhp.

I think it is fair to say that most people get the remaps for improved BHP and Torque and not for economy. If you have been quoted a 7% improvement in economy then that's only about 1.5mpg, are you really going to be able to notice that? If you want that level of improvement then you might as well by the premium diesels, that will probably give you that much of an improvement.

I don't think you can get a remap expecting to see a big difference in MPG, that's not what they are designed for.
