Hi all,
Im looking for someone to powder coat my D4 wheels in the Canterbury area. Had my previous D3 wheels painted and they seemed to be endlesly chipped so thought pwoder coating may be more resilient.
Any reco's or advice appreciated.
Thanks

Not so much the powder coat |
|
It's about the preparation...
Do they sand blast ?....... Not that good for the whel metal.
Do they chemically strip the existing finish ? Better...most use organic not acid strippers
Do they put a powder clear coat after the colour ?
Also do they put the tyres back & bakance them ?
Ask to see samples of thier work - real wheels not pictures on a phone. BREXIT - done properly.

Best wheel refurbisher in Kent period is Lepsons in Gillingham..... Had a set of P38 wheels done over 10 years ago and they are still perfect! Used them for everything else since...
For powder coating specifically I have used Cray Metal Finishers who have done a sterling job on components used on my horsebox build....very very reasonable and they like cash....! Probably the most heavily used powder coaters by heavy industry in Kent...they are good!

Another vote for Lepsons. They provide great service and the quality of the work is excellent. I think they are about £65 per wheel from memory but you won't be disappointed. D4 2016 Landmark, Waitomo Grey.
D3 2005 HSE, Bonatti Grey, now sold but still comes back for servicing.
Defender 2002 Td5 Commercial, had a hard life but slowly being restored.
I only work so I can afford to repair my Land Rovers!

Dropped it in at Body & Wheels today, a lot nearer than Gillingham, looking forward to seeing the results.

Ive had two sets of wheels done by them over the years and wouldnt use them again, so much coating I had to emery the wheel spigot out to get it to fit on the hub and again so thick any detail was lost in the thickness of the finish, this was on AMG wheels with the cast in writing, more sort of flowed in when they had finished.
I also remember thinking they were quite dear.
One of many from a quick search http://forums.m3cutters.co.uk/showthread.p...mp;t=58606
