Hahaha - I did fix it yesterday!
My GAP tool being plugged in and draining the battery was what fooled me. As it doesn’t give accurate readings (but because it’s a £500 tool I believed it over the £9 multimeter)
Got new multimeter (lap from Screwfix £8.99)
Shut car down last night and gave it 15 hours before testing again and voila!!
6.40pm 12.88v
8.40am 12.78v
15 hours between testing and got 0.1v drop
That’s got to be good!?
Which leads me to believe that I was also fooled by the FBH which won’t kick in - I reckon it’s confused me as being due to the now fixed phantom drain - when it is in fact the FBH also broke at the same time I’ve been diagnosing and needs a service. It worked a few weeks ago so I presume it’s at decided to break with impeccable timing.
So!
I will plug the tow electrics back in today and see how much voltage drop I get overnight.
If it’s the same then I know whatever I’ve done has fixed the car! Would either be the GPS or parrot wiring or the head unit staying on longer than needed
I’m going to try start the FBH now and blast some brake cleaner in the air intake and see if that helps it catch flame, if not then I’ll probably buy a used unit that I know works for £50
Thanks again all
Absolutely buzzing I’ve sorted this it’s genuinely been about 2 years of headache!
