POWER, POWER AND MORE POWER (who needs turbochip!?!)
While my D3 was in for a service on Friday, they gave me an HSE auto as a courtesy car. Apart from the fact that it was black-on-black and the aircon didn't work (which made things a bit warm!), the car was INCREDIBLE. When I got back to the dealer (Hillendale) I asked why the auto was so much faster than my manual. He said it had been "enhanced" (basically, a download to re-map the engine). No chip, no invalidation of warranty! Cost is £750 + VAT, dealer upgradeh. I am SERIOUSLY considering it!!!
I kept up with an M3 converible to well beyond 60mph...
I will get the official figures from them for the power increase and post it here later in the week!2005 Disco 3 TDV6 7 seater. Leather, DVD, fully colour-coded.

They told me this is a software download, not a chip. Is that correct?
If so, sounds a bit pricey!!!
P.S. Yes, I know the M3 probably wasn't trying very hard, but I bet they were surprised to see a 2.5 tonne Land Rover diesel going so fast!2005 Disco 3 TDV6 7 seater. Leather, DVD, fully colour-coded.

Mr Bling, the company may be called turbochip, but the process is a software download to upgrade the engime management software.

It is a software downlload but ultimately they are updating the memory chip inside the ecu with our TC program.
In the industry a 'chip' can be used to describe anything from a physical 'chip change' to a software download.
With regard to the price they charge that is purely up to them
Yes, TurboChip's upgrade is a software flash via the connector in the steering wheel column. It is not a physical chip.Matt

Thanks for the clarification. It's definitely something I'll be doing in the future. Currently all funds are going into the Spitfire restoration and Mrs Bling's Porsche fund!
BTW I had a drive in a friend's 4.7 litre, V8 BMW X5 at the weekend - BLOODY HELL does that thing shift!!!!2005 Disco 3 TDV6 7 seater. Leather, DVD, fully colour-coded.
