Power steering fluid?

LR power steering fluid seems rather expensive at around £35 per ltr just to top up by a very minimal amount, what are the alternative recommended brands?

options

1) don't bother to top up, if its not far from MIN
2) There are aftermarket suppliers off "Cold climate fluid"
Check out sponsors, ebay, island4x4

£11/12 ebay aftermarket

or genuine!

Pentosin CHF 11S will do the job. It doesn’t contain unobtainium nor have any unicorns been harmed while making it.

They have Granville, https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/adv906-2...5760-p.asp

Pentosin is a rather old German company which was acquired a few years ago by Fuchs, another rather old German company.

Granville is a UK based manufacturer, perhaps it’s more familiar to you.

But is it suitable for topping up a Didcovery 4?- does it meet LR specifications and mix with what is already in the system. This is the reason for the original question!

Last paragraph in advanced factors description:
Product Usage:
For use in power steering, central hydraulic and suspension level control units as specified on certain vehicles. Directions for Use As per the vehicle manufacturers recommendations. Must NOT be mixed with other ATF or power steering fluids

It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

According to AF it is, they’ve written STC50519 in the description. Thumbs Up

I’ve topped up mine with Pentosin CHF 11S, an alternative would have been Ravenol SSF. We don’t have Granville in Finland or at least I’ve never seen it.

For clarity, what they mean with “not mixing” is you shouldn’t mix CHF (central hydraulic fluid) with other types of fluids used in some vehicles like ATF (really) and LHM (I think this is more of a French problem).

or more simply put.

Don't mix red oil with green oil

Buy the other products off ebay if it concerns you
