Hi everyone,
Apologies as this is my first post but I have been reading up on the site for a few weeks now.
I bought my first landrover about 6 weeks a go. It is a 54 plate HSE diesel and I absolutely love it. My previous car was a grand cherokee, which for me was a great car, but the disco is so much better.
I drove the disco through a ford on the weekend, approx 10 inches deep and coming out of the ford the steering went totally stiff and I could barely move the wheel, then there was a screetching noise coming from the font end. I stopped the car and restarted it and all was fine.
Could it be that the drive belt got wet and started to slip, if so, is there a fix for this?
Thanks in advance!
Stuart

If it worked fine once the belt had dried out then nothing to worry about It's not unheard of for this to happen coming out of water.
Were you going a bit fast? 10" of water shouldn't be able to splash up into the ancilliary belt if you were going slow 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Hi Paul,
Thanks for such a speedy response.
No, I was only going about 10mph and it didn't seem that deep. It does seem weird that water can get in that easily though.
I will be going through that ford quite a lot and I know that in winter it gets to about 2 foot deep.
Cheers
