My D3 is in at Guy Salmon LR and they say it needs this powertrain update £118.80
What's this or are they trying it on.

Do you know if there are any faults or fault codes showing?

could be something as simple as the intercooler pipe ..
Ask them if they will give you your money back if it turns out to be EGR valves or a turbo G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

TFC looked at it on Saturday and checked intercooler pipe etc and could not find anything but suggested dealer look at it and plug it in. Defender 300Tdi 110 HCP - Keswick Green

One more thing...
I have a BAS remap that I removed before taking to the dealer will this affect anything if I put it back on. TBH it seemed better to drive to the dealer without the remap Defender 300Tdi 110 HCP - Keswick Green

I agree with wiggs, I had a problem with mine with engine fault, and the first thing landrover did was to change the fuel filter, when was the last time it was changed?
When they did the fault did come back and i've still not found out what the problem was but its not happened for months now
More wood touching!!!!
Regards the mapping, depends how the mapping as been written, i mean it may be asking for more diesel than normal and if the fuel filter is blocked the wanted increase cannot be delivered, so normal mapping doesn't ask for increase in diesel therefore seems better to drive.
Just my opinion

TFC changed filter in December done about 2000 miles since.
I was towing at the time so perhaps the remap did not like it but I have towed before with remap on vehicle with no problem. Defender 300Tdi 110 HCP - Keswick Green
