In fairness the whole Navigation system, like everything on any Land Rover, is overpriced and expensive for what you get....... but it is a better car....!
If I was designing the next Discovery, I'd seriously consider offering a choice of Garmin or TomTom take-out units which at least can be updated and POI's added easily and cheaply! 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Agreed, but when you pay in excess of two grand and then have to pay in excess of another £200 to update the thing at a dealer every year, and you can't simply download and add in things like RSPB reserves etc, for example........
But, as I said, we buy Land Rovers because we like them, not because they are so overpriced 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

dont know about the 2012 ...but the d4 up to then has 2 different screens . You cannot get TMC on one screen ...you need the other ...they look identical apart from dab radio fakra connector .
so ..new screen is about £2000 ...So if you wanted tmc ..( and even retofitting DAB ) i would pay the £530
Faultmate or not ...wrong screen and you will never activate TMC G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
