Privacy glass or tints

Hi, Supposed to be picking up new disco on Friday.

I have asked for privacy glass on my new baby, question is ...is there any serial numbers or anything to identifty its privacy glass and has not been tinted by others .I have seen some posts here of people who have asked for privacy and found it tinted instead.

I don't realy wanna start trying to peel the tints to see if they are .

You should be able to see around the edges of the rear windows - film tints have a tell tale narrow strip where they ride up over the blackmasked sections which were on the inside surface of the original glass - whereas proper privacy glass doesn't - 'cause the tint is underneath the blackmasked sections. Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

looking from the outside, you'd also see the aerials etched onto the glass (assuming it wasn't an exterior tint)

thanks all ...the dealers have been struggling getting my spec ...just didn't want him trying it on ...plus my wife has tints on her car and has magaged to scratch it a few times.

I have the privacy glass and it is pretty obvious that the whole glass panel is smoked, rather than a film having been applied. There is a code on the glass to set it apart from the non-smoked version, but as I am away from my D3 at the moment (I am at work - it isn't) I can't tell you what it is.
