problems - smoke and noise
i seem to have run into a whole crop of issues with my 7 month old D3 SE recently.
the bonnet sensor started mucking around and a visit to the dealers service center ended with a fixed bonnet sensor and a complete change of the power steering system - nearly everything apparently.
everything 'seemed' ok again until this evening after a 5 minute drive back from the gym we noticed a cloud of smoke coming from under the bonnet (smelling a bit like burning oil) and there was a loud wherring noise coming from under the bonnet. Smoke must have been coming from further down because no additional smoke came out when i opened the bonnet, but (looking into the engine bay) the box of trick to the right hand side was making the noise.
The dealer service centre isn't open tomorrow, so i'm going to have to wait until monday to have it looked at.
Just wondered whether anyone things this sound particularly serious. I don't do much mileage, but this weekend i actually need to be able to use her on the motorway.the sheriff of nothing

Nothing to worry about. It's the Fuel Burning Heater. Search the site an all will be clear Global Warming.... I'm luvvin it

Sound very much like your fuel burning heater ...it kicks in below a certain oC to help warm the engine ...no cause for alarm 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

And it gives off clouds of pungent smelling smoke/exhaust, usually from N/S wheel arch..............Your motor will be ok

Had the same only this morning after hooking up my trailer, thought its going to catch on fire with me best trailer attached!!!!
