Prospeed Roof Rack - Loss of Gloss

Hi all,

Some time ago I took my Disco into an indy to have some major work done (body off...glow plugs!).

While they had it, they helpfully gave it a wash for me. Lovely. Only problem is whatever they used on the plastic front valance of the Prospeed roof rack has turned it from a lovely smooth gloss finish into a rough matt finish. I didn't really notice at the time as it had been raining.

I didn't bother to challenge it as I had already had problems with the gear shifter being broken and loose, which they claim they didn't remove when the body came off (thoughts?). Great mechanics, but a bit messy!

Any ideas what on earth they put on there, and how I can restore the gloss shine again? (Permanently, I've tried various bottles of stuff which is only a temporary fix until it washes off).

Cheers.

Possibly used traffic fill remover which can attack some plastics.
Perhaps try using something like T cut to polish it back up again

Hi Russell,

Sounds about right. It was certainly something aggressive to do what it did.

Any particular T-Cut product? Or do you mean the standard for paintwork in black?
