Protecting start / stop button

Looking for some advice, please.

I've picked up a second have start / stop button as the lettering on my old one was very worn and it annoyed me! It seems a common issue, from what I noticed when looking at cars to buy.

Is there anything I can coat the new button with, to stop it wearing in the same way? Some sort of varnish, maybe?

Cheers,

How about some transparent “sticky back plastic” my wife uses it on the kids school books.

I wouldn't worry about it. Mine still looks decent after nearly 100k miles, so i would just replace it if it needed it. If it was wearing out every 5k miles, i would think differently.

If anyone is looking for the part, it’s LR014015.

I would apply some matte lacquer on it if you have to but the new button is~40 €.

Wow - that's a good few suggestions.

The lettering one my old one is almost worn away at 90K miles and the s/h replacement comes from a 2014 car and is just starting to show a little wear. Hoping to stop it getting any worse...

In comparison, our Mondeo is virtually the same mileage and looks like new.
