Protecting the transfer box

I've got the Mantec sump guard. I've got the ASFIR gearbox and diff guard/mud scoop (I think Duncan may be buying a gearbox guard after the weekend Wink) but the fuel tank, exhaust and transfer box remain free to the breeze.

Anyone found any underbody plates that will deal with the transfer box? Is it worth covering? It's quite high up in the chassis and you'd need to slide some way on your front plate and gear plate before you dropped on to the box, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

The single biggest problem I can see is the lack of suitable mounting points. The chassis rails are a long way apart at this point in the car, so whatever you use is going to need to be pretty heft to span the gap while remaining rigid enough to potentially support 2.7T of car dropping on it. I'm toying with the idea of getting some sheets of rigid 10mm kaylan or similar but need to have a chat with the manufacturers about it's ability to stand those kind of loads and impacts before exploring that further.

Anyone else explored adding protection in these areas?
 I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I'd be speaking to Nonstick Nick at Frog Island.
I was down there last week and they showed me a set of underbody covers that went, AFAIR along the whole undercarriage. These were test ones but they were looking at getting some others manufactured from a slightly thicker material. Worth a try Thumbs Up

Slightly thicker Shocked I would say they needed to be a Fkin lot thicker that the ones I saw down there. I bent one by pushing my thumb into one Shocked Whistle ask Neo. And they do not follow the profile of the bumper. They hang down at each front corner by about 25mm or 1". I suppose you could take it home when it gets dragged off and use it to cook a turkey in or wrap up your sandwiches Thumbs Up

Embarassed Not Knowledge Chap, if you can bend it by hand, rocks and the like will make mincemeat of it.

TBH it was wrapped in protective coating and looked to be about 5-6mm, but i didn't get my grubby mitts on it to feel how it flexed/moved etc.
This post has just reminded me to go and buy lots of beer tomorrow...... wonder why? Laughing Thumbs Up
