Pyrenees routes, Overland advice....
Off to Pyrenees late summer. After some Greenlanes we can explore for 2-3 days but where is a good place to find out what lanes are worth a drive down, and how to find them? Has anyone been before and got any experience?
Also, not doing anything too extreme (will do that closer to home) but what spares would people take? Just new filters and fulids, or other bits too?

Re mapping, this year I'm using the iPad and the TwoNav app with the 1:50k (or 1:25k) maps downloaded for free (and legally) from the Spanish Carto peeps. http://centrodedescargas.cnig.es/CentroDescargas/inicio.do Used lt last year with Fugawi and same maps but this year going high tech and gaffers taping the pad to the dash.
These maps have proved to be pretty good (for me) and work with Fugawi and CompeGPS.

we are over there driving for 8 days in may or june -------------------------------------------------
if you cant hold on dont let go , it ill come in handy for something even if you never use it.

Many greenlanes are closed in the french side of the pyrenees due to the ecological pressure, but some roadbooks from st jean pied de port to the spain side where published in some french magazines:

DSL, what on earth do you download from that Spanish link ... and will it run in/on memory map?Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

On the iPad so can't actually get the proper page but there is a download from viewer page that lets you select the raster map for the area you choose. Won't run on MM, AFAIK nothing but MM maps will, but Fugawi & Compe GPS will run them. Re TwoNav on the iPad you can convert the Spanish Carto maps from TIF to raster format using FOC CompeGPS Land. Will dig put a screen grab.
PS There you go, a 1:50k raster map on TwoNav with the track from 2010's trip (recorded on iPhone so low accuracy).

1 from st jean pied de port to lumbier (spain)
the other one lumbier to tuleda (spain)

Marco, you have a PM. Would be good to compare where you've been and my past trips plus where we're thinking of going this year. At first I thought there was two routes in the above pic, with the yellow route being very high & steep. Then the penny dropped.
