Question - Alloy wheels 06 model year
I have an early HSE with the 19" wheels. They have taken a bit of a bashing during off road use. The paint is also starting to peel off where the salt has got under the scrapes.
I have now aquired some 17" wheels and tyres for off-road, and plan to get the 19's restored.
Am I right in noticing that the 06 model has a different colour on the wheels? Mine are a bright silver, I seem to remember that DAN who came to the Salisbury weekend in his 06 had a darker shade of silver.
Anyone got a photo?

Take a look in my gallery.
Let me know if you want a closer pic of my wheels and I'll sort one out for you

Cheers Mike, if you could it would be a help. From your current gallery pics I can't tell if they are any different.
I am tempted to get them done in 'Black Chrome' but it may look a bit too bling. There is another shade called Antracite which is a tad darker but shinier than the standard silver.

Gareth I haven't noticed any difference on mine, the Zermatt is a blueyer silver than Zambezi though.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I can't vouch for the UK, but in the US, the V-8 cars use bigger brakes than V-6 cars. We don't use 17" wheels here, but I'd double check the fit before getting to far...

On the specs on the LR UK website the V8 does indeed have bigger brakes - the TDV6's are smallerSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I have already fitted the 17's and they are fine. They give a smoother ride than the 19's. It does make the car look very different.
I will have a look at a new car at the dealer on Wednesday.

I had some 20" RR alloys refurbed at Laptab, approx £40 per alloy (and happy to do Cash if you know what I mean), and 2 of them were really badly kerbed, and they came up nice. They have a selection of finishes, and colours.
I know they have a place in Birmingham, but believe they have other loactions too.

Al thanks
will need to do mine soon. Anyone know if leaving them scratched will affect the rest of the finish or should I just wait till trade in time ?

It really depends on you yes the scratch could tarnish slightly nothing that a proper shot blast would cure later. Although why refurb if they are going to get scratched again why worry wheels will get more available soon as the car gets just a little older
Having a spare set seems a popular choice

good points both... don't fancy splashing the cash on more wheels so will buff mine up when needed (if it makes a cost difference at trade in to the dealer compared to the buff job)

Also having scratched alloys (not kerbed) shows those antis that you use the car for purpose.

Simon, yes I am using lap tab in Brum. Got an 'official'quote of £300 for 4 wheels including removing and replacing the tyres, balancing with hidden weights etc.
Just need to decide on the colour. I could play safe and go for standard silver, or bright silver, or black chrome, or bright chrome - wow could get a real bling bling job done Anthracite would look good on a Bonatti Grey car, but not sure about Zambezi.
