Question to those of you that clean your D3s
This weekend I decided to give the D3 it's bi-annual polish and wax. This activity is foreign to me (last time it was done I convinced a then jobless friend to do it for a few quid, but he now has a job and isn't interested in manual labour any more) so I had to learn as I progressed. Anyway, think it worked out fine anyway - the D3 is still silver and I don't think I managed to strip much of the paint off.
Anyway, as I grew impatient and my hands started to tire (none of this electric buffer rubbish for me!), I had a few small accidents with bits of polish or wax getting onto some of the black trim. Tried wiping off with a damp cloth but when the area dries the white mark reappears. I don't ideally want to have to put some kind of stuff onto all the trim that makes it look shiny, as I don't like that kind of stuff. So, was just wondering what the recommended solution is? I was going to do at it with an old tooth brush and some water but just thought I'd check in here with the experts before possibly wasting my time.
Oh BTW, I used Meguiars paint cleaner, polish and wax if it makes any difference. Not sure which one caused the white bits.
Thanks,
Brendan.IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

Use a small amount of car shampoo on the toothbrush, should shift it.
Now you've got it all shiney, put some Autoglym Extra gloss protection on the paintwork. It wipes on with a cloth like water, leave up to an hour and polish off. It makes your car look just waxed every time you wash it for ages afterwards.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but what did you use to plug the second exhaust pipe to operate the airjack? 2006 Zermatt Silver TDV6 'SE' Auto, Mantec sump guard, Frontrunner roofrack, Lightforce 140s, split charge system and... a Jetboil.

Thanks guys. Might try that fisherman - won't be any problems due to the fact I didn't use an Autoglym wax? Just a shame that I need to drive through a mudbath of a road to get out of my house thanks to the weather.
Beaker, don't worry, it's already been hijacked . Chris had a blocking cone which was held at one of the exhausts. I've seen other people talk of getting bungs froom a plumbers shop which expand within the exhaust so one person can use the air jack but I think there was some concern over the temperature of the exhaust?IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

Brendan, I spray a little Armor All protectent on a towel & wipe down the plastic bits if that's available in your parts. It takes care of it great & doesn't leave it all shiney. I also use the Meguiars stuff...I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

To be fair ...Martin is right. AutoExpress did an article last year that sang the praises of 'smooth peanut butter' over the branded chemicals 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
Thanks bkehoe, I'll first explore other options before trying the peanut butter on the exhaust.

Q8, do the tech guys at your dealers have to wash their hands before servicing your D3 rather than after? Looks like new! That wouldn't last here, I'd be gone 100m down the road and it'd be as dirty as ever. I usually just clean as best as I can with a jetwash under the arches.IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
