quick q: TPMS - how to tell if it's fitted |
|
Can anyone confirm the quickest way to tell if tyre pressure monitoring is fitted to the car? - TLO's confirmed that it's not on my build sheet, but as the car was sold to me with it listed (& actually one of the reasons for getting this one as opposed to a different one) I want to double check. Can I physically check something? or do I have to let a tyre down?
I guess it's also worth asking can it be retrofitted? & any ideas how much it would cost (since I'm probably going to have to ask them to fit it)
Cheers! 56 HSE

Let a tyre down and try driving down the road to see if you get a warning I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

anything other than letting a tyre down? though I guess it's not the end of the world if I have to..
I figured there'd be a diagnostic light or a box to poke at 56 HSE

But if you arrive on your dealers forecourt with a semi flat tyre, and ask them why the TPMS did not give you a warning! They will then be forced to tell you it is not fitted, at which point you politely mention that they charged you for it, so how are they going to compensate you I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

There's a button on the dash? That sounds like the easiest way to tell - where is it? I presume you press it and it either checks or gives a Reading of the pressures?
Anyone got an idea on if it can be retrofitted? And rough costs? 56 HSE

Retro fit has been discussed here http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic34972.html?highlight=tpms G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
