Got mine done for £45 last week at a local tyre fitting place (they had a special on FB).... apparently it only had 5 grams in it when it should have had 500 Laughing

Definitely a leak there then. The system should be pressure tested and leak detected before even thinking of putting gas back in. The F gas regulations state that a system should not be filled if known to be leaking.

The vacuum test in the automatic cycle on the air con machine will detect a large hole in the system, but misses all but a big leak.

At the present time the gas costs are nearly more than you’ve been charged.

Regards
Steve

Hi Pete I owe you an apology as it does have rear air-con (In my defence I never sit in the back) sorry Embarassed )

For anyone around the Birmingham area I thoroughly recommend Pete at Roadchill: -

Had a couple of vehicles checked/refilled by him and the service is excellent.

Visited Pete at Roadchill today on the above recommendation. Travelled 60 miles to him (South Birmingham/M42) and it was well worth it. £40 for a top notch service. Current gas levels, functionality and temperature readings then a Compressor check, full vacuum out of the system, refill and lubricate. He checked for leaks in places I didn't know existed and talked me through the system (which is front and rear a/c in my D4).

I will be returning with our other car when he can fit me in.

Brilliant service and I learnt lots about the a/c system on my D4 too.

Thumbs Up

Its great when you find somebody who know what there doing, so many companies out there with machines but dont really know what there doing but get away with it when the systems are good.
