What r the the thickest profile tyres you can fit on 22's |
|
My V8 HSE has 295/30/R22 tyres (see gallery) and the ride isnt as nice as when i had the original HSE alloys with the thicker tyres. My question is. can you get thicker profile tyres for this type of alloy and which ones would you recommend.

SO......your car is the best looking but has the worst ride
I would guess at 3" over maximum standard LR wheel diameter your chances are likely to be limited in the extreme, possibly to one tyre which your therefore presumably already have on.
Might be worth a check of the tyre sites to see what is available or PM Andy at AJS (site sponsor).

Large diameter wheels == very low profile tyres == very hard ride ... always.
If you want the D3's legendary "magic carpet" ride, you'll have to fit wheels that give you enough room for tyres that have enough of a sidewall to flex, giving you the comfort that you now miss.
Form follows function.

You can go up to an overall diameter of about 31.5" - 32"(very tight with std suspension) but check for rubbing on access height.

Jonty the diameter of the wheel is 28 inches. These 22's along with the low profile tyres were smaller then the 19's i took off. So potentially i could replace them with tires 3 inches bigger which should do the trick.
thanks

Moving to a 295/35 would get you back close to the std OD of 30" but given the lowest std profile on the D3 is 55 then you are still some way short of anything approaching std ride quality. The guys on here running 20" are usualy running 295/45s OK. Cheers

This might also suggest why your performance is down!
The tyres are 3.5" smaller diameter than standard, would mean each full revolution of the wheel is taking you less distance - just a thought

could be? The performance drop was noticed around the time of the wheel change but im not sure the tyres would effect the engine braking. When i put it in neutral it coasts without any slowdown so i thinks its prob engine or gearbox related

Pretty sure the Brembo brakes are standard equipment on the V8. I'm sure you could get them painted yellow if you want.
Have you made sure that the load rating on your wheels and tyres is correct? Your insurance might not cover you if you have an accident and the load rating is under manufacturer's specs. You'll also likely encounter some punctures and/or damaged rims.
