Radio Mounting - D4 HSE Lux

Hi all,

Hoping to place an order for a D4 HSE lux in the next month or two.

Does anyone have any tips for mounting a Motorola DM4800 radio in the vehicle? Remote head job, so the radio itself can go under a seat or somewhere out of the way. I like the idea of the 'jam under' bracket for the remote head but the rest I've no idea about.

Radio currently lives in a Mitsubishi 4x4 which I installed it in, looks a bit of a mess frankly & want to do it properly this time.

Is it worth seeing if the dealer will do the job after delivery to win the deal or am I going to have to get over my fear of pulling a brand new D4 to bits?! Haha

Thanks folks Smile

I would do it myself but it may be worth asking the dealer if you are worried, who is the dealer?

Probably Marshalls.

I've done a few installs in my time but they've never been my own motor (apart from the Mitsi but that is old & screwed like the owner!) & the radios are sort of essential for what pays the bills, handhelds will do but having a nice high power mobile rig gets one out of the brown stuff.

I'd happily help the dealers do the job to make sure it's done how I want it because they know where all the clips & screws are which I would spend bloody hours trying to fight with, how to get through the firewall for power & how to put it all back together without making it look like crazy paving Smile I have a spare trunnion for the DM here so I'll probably modify that to wedge under the top of the dash near the vent, its just those bloody Motorola remote head cables that are massive.

Once I figure this out it just a case of waiting for all the people who owe me money to pay up & placing the order - a month of hard work ahead sorting the former!
