Silent as a church mouse nicking food when the cat's around!!!! I was going through blades every few thouseand miles, this was cured overnight with the Valeos. Starting to get very slightly noisey now at the bottom of the sweep (may just need cleaning) so have ordered another set for when they get too noisey. Sorted.
Be careful, that is £12.99 each, not a pair. Still good value compared with the LR ones (although this was all before LR changed but I'm sticking with Valeos).

I did swap the LR blades between driver & passanger, the passanger side then soon started getting really noisey. Might work better with the new type on the passanger side. If you need it, you can always buy a 2nd one later on.
Also any other Valeo users out there, ignore the yellow "CHANGE NOW" sign that appears, been like that on mine for months and the blades are still working well. Waiting til they start to smear or getting reasonably noisey before changing

Interesting - so the intermittent speed is supposed to affect the sensitivity of the FRONT wiper according to the manual.
In that case, mine is broken, as it has no effect on the speed of the wipers or the sensitivity of the rain sensor.Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

Mine definitely does nothing to the front ???
So maybe I have a fault?
It's strange that so many with the rain sensor have the same fault.

I can confirm that mine also have no effect, I suspect its a design flaw in the system and controller code though rather than a problem on some people's cars - based on the fact that so many find the system does nothing to control sensitivity when making adjustments as per the manual.Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

Wait, are you talking about the things that give the windshield a karate/shiatsu massage whenever it rains? Those don't get much use here is Shangri-L.A. 8)
Nice work posting the pages from the manual. "RT_M" is the reply that would have been posted on many of the other less civilized forums out there.

OK, it was raining on my way home today so I was able to check conclusively.
On my HSE with rain sensors, the dial has absolutely no effect on the front wipers at all or in any position. It definitely does effect the frequency of the REAR wipe only. This can be checked by turning the rear wipe on (Its frequency should now be speed dependent - which on mine it is) The dial now adjusts the frequency of the rear wiper while still remaining related to the speed. This can be checked by moving the dial one click at a time in either direction. When the dial is moved the rear wiper sweeps immediately irrespective of when it last timed. In other words, you can make the rear wiper on mine operate continuously by clicking the dial repeatedly.
If all that makes any sense - I can show that the dial is definitely connected to the rear wipe, which isn't mentioned in the previous post of the manual, or any other manual I've seen???

Agree with Crews Control above , that is how my 2005 HSE seems to work with the wipers, also had the new LR front wipers fitted at last service, only a couple of months ago and not been used much but so far have remained quiet.

what would be the point of having auto rain sensing wipers that need to be variably controlled. My wipers go as fast as the rain does...I don't have to touch them at all 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
