Rich, you're lucky. Both mine have had the random wipe frequency module fitted I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I think the point is personal preference. I can't stand the wipers going too fast and dragging over the screen, SWMBO is more than happy to have them on contant when its barely raining.
I agree with Davro and Crews Control, extensive M25 testing Wednesday night revealed the speed dial has absolutely no effect on the wipers what so ever!
Was not watching the rear, tend not to use that on the motorway when cruising with little traffic. Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

My auto wipers seem to have a fault I've not seen on here yet, when i move the stalk up to switch the auto function on they work very well and vary to the amount of rain and speed as they should. However they will only work for around 20 wipes then stop and not move again unless i turn them on and off again. This could be 20 fast wipes if its raining hard, or 20 slow wipes over a longer period of time if its light rain (i.e the wipers seem to only work for a certain amount of wipes and not a certain amount of time) Any ideas what I could try to get them working for more than approx 20 wipes?
Cheers!

Quick question for those experiencing the front sensors not working.........has your vehicle had a windscreen replacement at any point?
I used to work in the windscreen trade and rain sensor operation was a regular issue in many cars after changing the screen, either due to poor fitment, damage during changeover or failure to replace the gel pad (for those fitted with one)

Sorry to bump an old thread here but again i have a fault i cant find any information on?
am new to the forum, have recently purchased a 55 plate Disco HSE with 53k on the clock.
everything works as it should with the exception of the following......
auto headlights come on fine, however the intermitant automatic rain sensing doesnt work and there is no intermitant wipe even when stalk is selected to do so.......i have unplugged the ambient light sensor/rain sensor from behind the mirror and the intermitant wipe works fine (obviously not automatically) however and obviously the automatic headlights then no longer work.
i have also replaced the sensor module behind the mirror and it still has the same fault with the automatic wipers?
is there anyway i can "wire mod" to bypass the rain sensor part of the sensor module menaing i can keep the auto lights function part but revert back to normal stalk operated intermitant wipers? or any other plans you guys think might help??
many thanks in advance.

I find the auto wipers incredibly annoying so I disabled mine with the IID tool. Auto lights still work fine when auto wipers are disabled. Kev

thanks Pete K and knwatkins ........i have been debating about getting an IID anyway so this might be the little thing that pushes me to do it as its quite annoying, especially recently
i had wondered if there was a way to bridge the wire feeding the rain sensor section of the module but i am going to take your guys advice and get the IID tool.
will this deactivate the auto sensing headlights or just the auto wipers as i havent found the auto lights as being to bad?
thanks again though Guys.

I think it’s a data bus from the sensor. LIN, from memory.
So not possible to cut 1 wire.
The iid should only disable 1 item
