rain sensing wipers

Is there anyone out there who can tell me for sure which way to turn the switch on the wiper stalk to reduce the sensitivity of the wipers? I have tried turning it to the top (away from me) and the bottom and am still not convinced it makes any difference, but would like to reduce the sensor. This is on a my2006 HSE

Cheers

+1!

I don t really understand the way it works....

during the very light rain, I just switch off the Auto function.

You can't they are fully automatic.

They are not as good as on my XKR which work perfectly for any type of rain. I find when the rain is too light they are just irritating, so I switch them off.

you cant adjust the front sensitivity. the stalk however can be used to control the rear wiper frequency. Well, it does on mine..

It took me ages to realise that dial only adjusts the sensitivity of the rear wiper! Many journeys spent trying to detect a difference. Maybe when they save money and reduce the spec of the 10MY they could leave that bit out instead of something useful?

Maybe they can just get the sensor and wiper controller to work properly in MY10?!

Came off the motorway yesterday in light rain, wipers on constant at 60mph, slower to a stop, it was very light drizzle, wipers still going full pelt. Had to turn them off auto, then back on, to make them go to intermittent.

I wish they would fix this... its very annoying on a £££ car... would happily swap for 5 speed intermittent that was manual control.
Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

I've read somewhere, but can't find the post despite frantic searching, that if you pull fuse 18, you disable the rain sensing wipers. Apparently the wipers then revert to a standard intermittent function Thumbs Up

Fuse 18 will also disable the “Auto Lights”, which wouldn’t be an issue for me, as I never use them, but it might be for some.

I think the auto wipers are just fine...and I can always use the magic of 'fingers' to switch them off should the need arise Thumbs Up

Suddenly everything becomes clearer Thumbs Up even if i cant stop my drivers wiper making a very annoying slap as it changes direction (3 Sets later and have to keep putting my old wiper blade back on drivers side or go insane every time it rains ) Which is most days.

That's cause of the crap blades LR put on them, try buying a set of Valeo UM665 from these guys http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/Valeo_X...lades.html . I've had them on for 15 months & 14000 and they are just starting to make a slight noise, if you really listen for it. Another example of a world beating car spoilt by something that should be taken for granted. That and the Censored EPB!!!

Rant over, off for a cuppa. Thumbs Up

Thanks for that will order some. Anoying thing is though that the new set fitted Monday this week is LR,s answer to the problem. They were supposed to have cured what they know is a major customer concern. They are fantastically quiet but as i said drivers wiper slaps as it changes direction at the top of the screen. Is this the problem others have solved with the Valeo Brand ?
