Raised air intake (which one?) |
|
Looking at fitting a raised air intake after seeing how good it looks in the galleries.
Which one should I fit? I am not to keen on the standard LR one and prefer the one fitted by Heine. I need to decide before Friday as the D3 will be at BRS next week for fitting a winch (thanks Baben).

The one I have (Safari) is a proper snorkel and not just a RAI . It is also about half the price of the LR one. But IMHO the LR one looks much nicer

HLS you might want to consider the LR raised intake to avoid any warranty issues later. LRSA can claim all sorts of related issues if you have an engine warranty claim
That's what motivated me to fit the LR one and I think it looks better D3 2005 HSE V8 model, snorkel, nudge bar, uprated tow hitch (12T), Goodyear Wrangler MTR (MT) tyres, National Luna battery box, Outback roof-rack, Takla seat covers.

Hi Heine
My local agent (Umhlanga) said only the Mantec one was approved but they might have been misinformed. D3 2005 HSE V8 model, snorkel, nudge bar, uprated tow hitch (12T), Goodyear Wrangler MTR (MT) tyres, National Luna battery box, Outback roof-rack, Takla seat covers.

Hmmm usual story - I was told that Safari is approved as long as it's done by an approved installer

Looks like it will be the standard LR one unless I can be convinced overnight that it is not the best option One is fortunately available courtesy of the cancelled G4 challenge

So long as you are aware that the LR one is a RAI and the Safari one is a proper snorkel. Depends on how deep you intend to take it. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Nice bit of driving. Steady speed kept the bow wave constant. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
