Hi, yes this is one of the motherboards can’t remember if this is the original one or the Range Rover one. I did not need to desolder to reprogram and used a clip on EEPROM adapter which worked really well. I’ll see if I can find the links on Amazon.RLD CB Bracket

Thanks as did wonder and super helpful. Re the board, mine is a 2010 Sport so essentially the same so apols if being stupid but your pic re chip location that is from the board the faces you once the black shroud is removed and not the reverse side ie behind the dials so the whole board itself need to be removed to access the chip?

Yes this chip is on the reverse of the board once you taken the rear cover of the cluster off. There is a few screws and I think on the RR board a couple of flat cables on either side. They are both held in by push down clips, so be careful not to break them when you pull them up, they don’t fully come out and the cable slips out easily.RLD CB Bracket

Hey Zeus finally found the pesky chip ! Thanks no to order up the kit from amazon. Does the eeprom reader come with drivers or to be sourced separately and hopefully into the next stage!

David, Iwirj a wealth of info on here I was reading other post about swapping over like for like clusters to replace faulty units and there we’re some issues regarding resetting mileage to lower than the new unit has for the obvious reason - is this an issue when reprogramming the chip as the lcd display I’m looking at has 78k and my rrs has 52k ?

So can’t remember any problems with drivers for the reader/programmer, so should be straight forward.
You have a few items you need to transfer from old EEPROM, the VIN is fairly obvious and will stand out. The mileage I was a bit clever about and took a back up of the old cluster, put it back in, drove a couple of miles and then took a backup again. You can then very clearly see where the mileage is and transfer to the same point on the RR cluster. Or if you want to be 100%, do exactly the same with the RR cluster and you’ll know exactly where it is stored. The complicated one is the security code which is in the bottom of the EEPROM file, and to be honest this is the one which might be different per model year. I’ll see if I can find some pictures to help you of the BIN file.RLD CB Bracket

😜 Oops so sorry and my bad - thanks David! Re drivers and software did you source separately or comes with reader? Are the files that different then when read ie you can’t save backup and rewrite that file to lcd cluster or is best way to individually edit? How’s the cluster since you done yours all good and loving it?

Don’t remember sourcing any other drivers. I certainly didn’t want to take the chance of writing the whole Discovery to the RR cluster...... but....... if you take a backup of the RR cluster EEPROM, you could always give it a go 😉
As far as being happy..... oh yeah, so much so that I don’t think I’d want a Discovery 4 without it now. So it’s a RRS or new Disco if I change.RLD CB Bracket

I did this with the help of the information on here, and some PM's with David and Darren
I used a program called HexCmp2 to check the prom files, worked really well as I downloaded the new dash and old dash, then went for a drive with the old dash and found what had changed between the two files, then it was a case of the security code, and again in the HexCmp program it wasnt that hard to spot. You can get the program free for 15 days - so you have to be quick
The hardest part, and the part I am still not happy with is the actual fit - It would be so good if someone could 3D print some new brackets, and trim that sits below the dash pod thing.2010 Disco 4 HSE
