Reading / Cleaning Fault Codes

Hi all,

I have been searching the forum but haven't really found a clear answer:

If I want to be able to read and clear fault codes on my D4, what are my options?

I'd like to get one now rather than waiting, and from what I gather there are cheaper alternatives like the Faultmate?
