Far too common I'm afraid.

It's worth dropping the bumpers to clean the connectors etc, but it's probably going to be a sensor gone down.

They are easy enough to diagnose though, and quite cheap.

Stick the car in gear with the ignition on but without the engine running, and listen to each one, they are surprisingly loud from a couple of inches away, but you might need to stick one ear right up against it.

The one that's gone down is the one that doesn't click.

Obviously it's Forward for the front ones and Reverse for the rear ones.

Dropping the bumpers is a bit of a faff, but not difficult.
Remember the bolt behind the headlights at the front Very Happy

Some say you can get to the front ones without removing the bumper, through the spotlight holes, but I've never managed it.

This is what's required to drop the front bumper.
It looks drastic, but only takes @20mins.

one of my front ones has gone but on a G4 D3 it means a big heap of work to remove it all ,think i will stick to the old way of parking for now .

As you said, if it one of the outer fronts, you can definitely get to them through the fog light hole very easily
