Rear brake pads

Just about to replace mine & I see that the new pads have a self adhesive strip on one side of the pair. Does this go on the opposite side to the piston to prevent squealing? Thought I'd better check as there has clearly been an L/R 'mod' since Gareth's useful instructions were posted. Thanks Richard
