Rear Brake Pipes (some Help Please!) failed MOT

First of all big thank you to every one on this site for the advice and tips it has mad my first 6 months of D3 (55 S, Silver has been a work horse in the past giving it some TLC) ownership dare i say it an absolute pleasure. Having owned D1's and a TD5 the D3 tops the lot.

I enjoy a bit of tinkering and have replaced the stranded radio for a double din unit with bluetooth,

Also replaced

rebuit the front calipers and painted silver
Both front wheel bearings
Both front CV joints
Oil, Oil filter
Oil sump (found a hole)
added a bit of Dr Tranny and my shudders have gone.
Diff oils changed

But it just failed its MOT on rear brake pipe corrosion, I have ordered the copper pipe and flaring tool but does anyone have a diagram of where the brake pipes run as I hope to be able to splice in the new ones some where in the middle

Will add some pics it the rain holds off this week end

To do list

All round brake hoses
Cam belt (think I may get an indy to this)
Both front drop links
off side front ball joint
Sill protecters
pollen filter
air filter

thanks in advance guys

Just cut the pipes in the center of the car just under the passenger side seat, they are partially hidden underneath the heat shield, then both pipes run from there to each rear wheel just follow them back and you can see where they go up towards the epb module, then one to left and one to the right hand rear wheel just above the upper suspension arms to a flexible rubber pipe on each side.

Flack Thumbs Up

while you are under there

Replace the short ones on top of the rear upper wishbones at the same time they won't be far from failing at this stage.I recently had a front caliper seize and while bleeding this the rear offside just failed at the unprotected area near inner union.

If its an 05 and you bought it earlier this year, did it not already have the cambelt done (7 years/105K miles) If not i would do that soonest before anything else. It is always worth trying a dealer, occasionally you will find one cheaper than an Indy for the belts, I (and several others on here) paid £620 for belts and service last year.

Or DIY Thumbs Up

Cambelt bits £148.80

Cambelt tools £46.55 (Unless you can rent them from someplace)
http://www.tool-net.co.uk/p-364476/sealey-...tAod33UAAA

Fan spanners £25

Service kit £31

Allow for some new engine oil, and you are saving yourself almost £400 in labour Thumbs Up
Cambelt tools can be sold on again, to recoup some of the cost of buying. Would always be worthwhile keeping hold of the VC fan spanners Whistle

I have decided to get the rear ends of the brake pipes replaced because of the rust under the clips. The brake fluid is due a change anyway.

Local village garage took a look on the ramps this morning and quoted £226 inc parts and VAT. I can live with that in a village where a pint of ale can cost £3.80 Whistle Nice to keep the local businesses going.

Well, price came in less than quote - £206 inc parts and VAT. Another preventative job done.
