Yeah fluid loss would be obvious
1 circuit failing may result in soft pedal.

Probably calipers or cheap pads

One circuit failing should result in increased pedal travel once the fluid has gone , rather than a soft pedal. Mind you I had one pipe fail on a 2003 Rover 75 and ended up with no brakes which theoretically cannot happen!

The brakes are split front and rear. Main force goes to front brakes, secondary goes to rear brakes. If both rears are a problem it will more than likely be a master cylinder problem.

I would first check the calipers and if they are not siezed try bleeding them the old way with somebody pumping the pedal.
If you get no fluid coming out it could indicate the ABS pump has failed.

Nipped/crushed brake pipes possibly?

Thanks to everyone for all the advice, I now have working brakes and a new mot... Thumbs Up

It was the calipers that had caused the problems, I managed to free one side off and get working again (OSR) but the NSR was having non of it so had to be replaced, while I was at it I fitted some new brake lines and bled the brakes the "old fashioned" way with a mate pumping the peddle.
