Rear Camera on sat nav screen

Looking to add a rear camera to my O6 HSE to line up my caravan over the tow ball when reversing. has anyone done this, is it easy and is it possible to get this to overide the sat nav screen when reverse gear is selected. Gettting really peed of with jumping in and out of the car and no doubt smash my bumper before long. Cheers, t

Hi Silver Fox,

I have a VDO Dayton satnav and I fitted a reversing camera in the rear bumper. I chose a wide angle camera which was inserted into the bumper and to the left side of the tow bar cover. However, although the camera gives a good view to the rear of the vehicle and automatically starts up when reverse gear is selected, it does not quite see the tow ball.

Additionally, when the camera is mounted to one side of the tow hitch, you will not see the caravan hitch closing to the centre of the satnav screen, it will be to one side. So a bit of guess work until you get used to it.

If you choose to insert the camera into the bumper, (which is both neat and not conspicous), the best way to overcome this issue is to mount the camera at a slight angle, looking towards the tow hitch. The angle is very marginal, just a few degrees.

Hope I explained this adequately.
