Rear center Safety belt JAMMED !

Hi all - from the us of a here - 2005 7 seater HSE. The safety belt on my center rear seat (the "30" in 35/30/35) is jammed !

It's retracted as normal when no one is in the seat; but when giving it a tug, it will only come out of the retracting device about 1/2 an inch. I have fiddled with it, removed the plastic escutcheon/cover, saw nothing amiss obviously.

Does anyone have any advice or had this happen? I would hate for this to be a dealer trip.

Chances are, that whoever pulled it oiut last, pulled it to it's limit, where it then goes into Load Holding mode, so if youhave a Box or something, it keeps it tight and won't move back out.

When this heppens, I don't know how long it waits once it's retracted back, but I generally end up moving the youngest lads car seat to one of teh other seats as i can't be bothered to wait for it to free up. Next time I go back to the car, it all goes as it shoiuld.
not sure what you'd do if you have all 7 seats occupied!

I have had this on a D2, and it was the plastic peg that goes through the belt to stop it retracting too far that had somehow passed through the plastic shroud and was jamming on it. I had to dismantle the seat back to fix it.

Fold the seat forwards (flat), and then put it back up again. Some weird inertia thing in mine jammed it. Was fine after I did that.

All helpful ideas - i'll check it tonight.

I did try the seat folding (harshly!) thing... didnt seem to have any affect. I'll try looking to see if a button got caught up in the seatbelt mechanism... but if I need to unbolt the mechanism, how would I go about doing that. Under the plastic cover, there are 2 screws that I can remove to remove the cover -- then there is a large (VERY TIGHT) silver torx bolt. Does that secure the belt mechanism to the seat back?

I am hoping the seat covers/leather/carpet back do not need to come off for a simple seat belt retractor removal. Thanks !
