I have been curious about this ~ even if you can't link it in "though i think you can with the magic black box and some other bits"
would it be possible to swap it in and use it with a switch on the dash???

No, it is not a simple locking diff, it is has a clutch that gradually enables it depending on signals from the vehicle and works taking the traction control and DSC into account. It is so integrated with the vehicle electronics that you would need to add a wiring loom and all the control boxes then enable the lot via LR software. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

That would be the ly way to do it: by installing all the bits, unfortunately a normal locker would conflict with traction control etc. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I can't see this being the case, as TC would see both wheels slipping at the same rate and manage TC accordingly. There are many D2s with lockers.

Even if it would work no one makes one to fit a D3.
The legendary ARB Airlocker NA.
The even more legendary Maxidrive Locker is now no more.
I had a 79 Rangie with a Maxidrive and it was awesome, I loved the PSST noise it made when it engaged.
