I have no doubts it'll work, prototype looked good, finished article looks even better, only thing that may need adding is a few drainage holes but I'm guessing you've allowed for that and they're not needed. Looks loads better than the Asfir (or whatever) one that looks ideal for snagging every branch in it's rutted path to me

Thanks to new member J for reminding me of this thread.
This is the latest mod of the diff guard (8mm thick). it was used on the Santa's Challenge event and performed ok however it did bend a bit. Its impossible to strengthen at the front due to the layout of the exhausts. The next step is to make one out of 6mm thick steel.

Cool.....I see that you've taken our advice and routed the roof-mounted intercooler pipes inside the D3 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Cheers Andrew - thanks for the update. I've done a good search through old topics on sump/diff guards and underbody protection but most seem to be a couple of years old at least.
Got a sump guard on order from Ray, so now just need to find something for the back end.
Let me know if/when I can get my hands on one - i've got a lot of deep rutted tracks I use and sure it's just a matter of time until I say goodbye to the exhaust
