Snickers, as you can tell from all the comments above, we are somewhat incredulous that you've stuck yourself so irretrievably in such a simple manner.

There really is a skill to employing the systems your D3 offers. Questions abound:
1. Where you in low range?
2. What Terrian mode were you in?
3. Was DSC off?
4. To drive out of the hole, did you throttle it, or did you give it just barely enough throttle to turn the wheels?
5. If you were grounded, did you raise the suspension? If it was still grounded, did it go into extended mode? If it did, did you try to engage super extended mode?

Basically, the traction control likes a slow gentle throttle, and using a setting such as rock crawl makes the TC engage earlier with more sensitivity. I suspect that the right mode and right throttle control and you could have driven right out, forward or backward.

A rear locker would not have helped in this case, as you said neither of the rear wheels were turning. That suggests that your center diff was not engaged.

I have witness the benefits of the rear locker, but they are generally limited to when 2 wheels are off the ground, on an inclined surface.

If training is available to you, I highly suggest it. And bone up on that manual!

Regards,
