Reverse mirror dip is signalled from the CJB when it receives input from the transmission controller via CANbus, equally well, any suspension problems (other than distorted suspension components, including wishbones, bushes, wheels etc.)would cause a warning light to be evident on the dash..... be careful telling someone to drive a car they claim has a fault as it may just end up in a ditch to prove a point

TFC many thanks for your help there mate, the guy was after a Porche 4x4 as a loan car stating his car was unroadworthy due to the accident. If I prove his car was as roadworthy as it was before the accident I can get him to pay for the period of time he has the hire car whilst the car is not being repaired.
I can be a nasty piece of work when required.

Sounds like he was after an extended test drive....
It's worth pointing out that all the DTC's (fault codes) are stored with a global time code easily accessible by any LR dealer - even on an '03 FFRR - which will detail the time and date a specific fault occurred.....

Other things seem iffy about this claim like the car was imported in Dec 06 and had a plate change in January. The strange thing is that the VIN has changed also?????
Does anyone know under which circumstances a VIN can change?
I don't.
Don't know about You Blokes O'er There but We have had changes on VIN plate allowed by the authorities in the case of mistakes being made on the ID plates or with the VIN'S.
Eg. Nissan D40 Navara stamped with wrong approval number. Did you think I would leave you crying,

in UK, VIN's (chassis number) can't change unless the vehicle has been (re)built and subject to a SVA, if there is a question over the validity of the vehicle, contact VoSA or DVLA
The original VIN is issued at build by the manufacturer and contains unique identifiers to the vehicle type, configuration and model year. Something very strange going on with this particular vehicle

My dealer told me there was no time stamp on my D3 fault codes. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I think I'll let slip to the owner of the FFRR that the time/date of the fault is registered which can be read by a dealer and pinpoint if the fault did indeed occur when the accident happened. I'll also tell him that he's responsible for the hire costs if it's found that the faults with his suspension (If they exist) were already apparent before the accident.

Just a thought, this guy had towing electrics damaged in the knock. Could the shunt have caused a short which told the D3 he had a trailer attached, therefore diabling the suspension? FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!
