My rear red fog lights don't work
I am very new to my 2009 D3. Playing with all the switch etc today to see which does what. I noticed that my rear red fog lights are not working. I had ignition on, headlights on, switch pulled out twice, the indicator comes on the dash, but no rear lights. I have checked fuse 32 in the glove box fuse box, but that seems ok, any thoughts please.1955 SWB Series 1 86 inch

Yes that is a good obvious solution, which I didn't check because I thought it unlikely that both would be broken, but I will check them tomorrow. Sometimes the obvious solution is the best one.... 1955 SWB Series 1 86 inch

It's not that uncommon for both to go at once, at least judging by the number of peeps in here that ask the same question.

You say the vehicle is new to you so I guess that you have never seen the rear fog lights working?
The bulbs may well have blown at separate times in the past months. First port of call is Check Your Bulbs.
Have fun

So, today I checked both bulbs, both are ok. Also checked the tow pack fuse which is in the nearside rear wheel arch, that fuse is ok. But still no foglights.............1955 SWB Series 1 86 inch

Maybe the switch, but I'd suspect a broken or disconnected wire. Good luck with finding the fault.

so you have towbar electrics.
some systems turn off the rear fogs when a trailer is plugged in.
So check for any additional wires running to the tow socket.
Check the towbar foglight fuse has +12v on when the fogs are on. (this will at give clues that the fog power is getting to the rear)

Just remembered. When checking the bulbs, had the light cluster out, I noticed around the area of the fog lights, an electrical gismo of some type. It was gold in colour, about two inches long, and as round as your finger. This was connected into the system. Could this be part of the towpack wiring ?1955 SWB Series 1 86 inch
