Rear upper wishbone setup
hi
hope it’s ok for another daft question if i may plse
ie
when jacking the landy up u set it to off road height , then pull fuse F26
after replacing upper wishbones u jack the bottom wishbones up to 485mm from centre of wheel hub to bottom of wheel arch, in order to torque up the nuts
however it says u need to do it in normal height level, or does it not matter that ur set in off road height plse
many thks, once again again listening to me ramble on :

When you say “set it to off-road height”, do you mean “raise and support the vehicle”?

But, did find this out there, and as a disclaimer I have absolutely zero experience or knowledge of trying any of this, but hopefully it helps some until someone who knows what to do comes along?
but that would sound like its irrelevant what the suspension is at as long as you support the assembly with an Axel stand so that the height is at the correct level.

yes , setting the suspension to off road height , then putting axle stands underneath and remove wheels
as i’ve always been lead to believe the vehicle should never be jacked up unless suspension is set to off road height and pull F26 fuse to stop it moving when jacking it up
bless u for the link and indeed it looks as though as said as long as it’s set to 485mm it doesn’t matter what u originally set the suspension to
wonder why it says to mark the position of the top bolt when ur replacing the wishbones and bolt
thks again so much for the reply and very helpful

Then I am extremely grateful as you have taught me something new!
I’m still in my first 6 months of D3 ownership, so an help I’ve offered is pure luck. But, hope that does help, nonetheless.
But please do say how it gets on as, from the knockng I’ve got on full lock after about 180 degree turn, I’m going to have to do something similar in the not too distant future.
That and I’ve got a rear prop shaft to replace in the near future .....
..... thanks to Bodsy for picking that up, btw.

hi
that’s good if it’s also been helpful to ur good self, all thks to the forum and fantastic help along the way
i had a knock on the front , after i replaced both front struts i also done the drop links , bought the heavy duty meyle ones from advanced , owned mine just over 18 x months
the knock was there when i turned onto my driveway
tested the front lower wishbones by finding a quiet road, put into low, then a few MPH i dabbed the brakes and no knock , also inspected the front ARB bushes and they were also ok
when i removed the front drop links they were shot
found the bad rear top wishbone bush by setting suspension into access height , getting hold of the top of the tyre and rocking it towards and away from me, back drivers side is shot and will be replacing both sides and all the rear 4 x brake hoses and 2 x brake pipes
thks again

yes, assuming it’s when u just replace the bush to mark the top bolt , as surely fitting a new wishbone and bolt there won’t be anything to line up with again
am thinking of using a digital angle finder i’ve got, putting it on the disc vertical , jacking the lower wishbone to 485mm taking the angle then doing the same with the new wishbone , don’t know if it would work ??
just to get it roughly back in the same position before i get the 4 x wheel alignment done
