Rear View Camera Help

Okay, so I fitted and wired a rear view camera that replaced one of the license plate lights last fall. I wired it to the left rear taillight so that it will only power on when I select reverse. I know that it will not display on the sat nav screen automatically when i select reverse but it does show up when I check it in the diagnostics menu and turns on just as planned when reverse is selected. I also read last fall that I could fool the sat nav display into displaying the image when reverse is selected if I removed a wire/pin from inside the display so that it would think that it was in "range rover" mode (I did this). I further read that I would still need to change the CCF file to turn on or "fit" the rear view camera in which I was able to talk my local RR dealer into doing so. So now my system knows there is a rear view camera and it now displays "fitted" under the rear view camera. The only problem is that it still does not display automatically when reverse is selected. Is there something that I am missing? Do I need to reinstall the wire/pin in the back and return the nav display to "land rover" mode?

When I am PARKED, NOT in reverse and in the diagnostics menu, when I select "video input tests" you can see that it now displays "fitted" under rear view camera. When I select the rear view camera there is no display (because I am not in reverse). When I run a "self test" it tells me "switch board 2 disconnected" and "rear video input failure". PICS of these are below -

When I am IN REVERSE GEAR and in the diagnostics menu, when I select "video input tests" you can see that it now displays "fitted" under rear view camera (as before). When I select the rear view camera the camera is now displayed. When I run a "self test" it tells me "switch board 2 disconnected" but DOES NOT give me the "rear video input failure" as did when reverse was not selected. PICS of these are below -

Any suggestions and help would be great! THANKS!

I think you need a GVIF unit as well as having the camera activated in the CCF.
The factory screen will only change over once a GVIF is fitted, search the forum for that but I'm pretty sure, with a factory screen, you need a GVIF when not running in a Range Rover mode.

Good luck. Thumbs Up

If the screen is in RR mode then you can edit the ccf so it will automatically switch when reverse is selected, and won't need a gvif unit, that's the way iv'e done mine
