Been doing a bit of reading on the above and this seems to be a bit of tough job for the home mechanics among us, stripping it all down then having bearings removed and new ones pressed in, would it be easier to buy a new hub and bearing then get the bearing fitted then just replace the hub.
any thoughts on this

no probs at all. except you need a 10 / 20 tons press to push out the old bearing. and once done the car needs a 4 wheel alignment. Achim

Thats the way I do it anyway, I have a set of hubs that are refurbished, with all new parts, then its a straight swap.

He was lucky they where not to tight then, I have a 20 ton press and I have sometimes struggled to get some old bearings out of the hub's.
Also had a lot of hubs stuck on the driveshaft splines, so you need a puller to get them apart.

Yeah the impact action of the gun probably did all the hard work for him. Bet it would of been hard going just by hand!

I did mine at home with a 12 ton press. It's no not too bad, just have to be patient. A Dremel to cut the stuck races helped.
Factor in a new dust shield for the handbrake, it will either get bend Trying to take the bearing out, or will be so rusty that's it's not worth putting back on.
